Tasting - Schlank Haus Riesling Spätlese

Name: Schlank Haus Riesling Spätlese

Variety of the grapes: Riesling

Country of origin: Germany

Region of origin: Nahe

Vintage year: 2021

Price: $14.95

Vintage Cellar: “Ripe mango and guava notes are a bit confected but tasty in this juicy, easy-drinking Riesling. Medium sweet in style, it’s balanced by zesty lime acidity and a hint of earthen minerality on the finish.”

Wine Folly: The text on pages 158 provides an overall description of Riesling which includes: lime, green apple, beeswax, jasmine, and petroleum. I definitely tasted a hint of lime flavor, but more so as a background taste. I also tasted the green apple flavor, but did not detect any of the other flavors.

My Review: Great wine! I enjoyed this well-balanced wine. I definitely agree with the lime acidity, but was unable to detect the "Ripe and guava notes". I paired the Riesling with some summer sausage as I got a little hungry and think that they paired well together. The sausage had more of a mellow flavor and was not as aggressive in flavor. This was definitely an easy-drinking wine, and I would most definitely drink this again!
